Nine primatologists from West Africa successfully completed the first iteration of the Primate WATCH (West Africa Team for Critical Habitat Protection) Program aimed at strengthening the capacity of primate specialists to interact with energy, extractive, and associated infrastructure (EEAI) projects to improve mitigation and best practices for primates.
“The Primate WATCH training helped me improve and strengthen my skills regarding how impact assessments are conducted, including tackling impacts on primates and more specifically chimpanzees. This will help me better interact with the private sector to minimize impacts on these species.” - Simone Ban, Ph.D., Primate WATCH participant.”
This program was made possible thanks to funding from the Critical Ecosystems Partnership Fund (CEPF) and United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
