Safeguarding Apes & Their Habitats

Apes in Africa and Asia face critical threats from large-scale development projects. The ARRC (Avoid, Reduce, Restore, and Conserve) Task Force is dedicated to protecting all ape species by avoiding, reducing, and restoring the negative impacts of large-scale development projects and contributing positively to ape conservation.

Capacity Building

The Primate WATCH program was developed by the ARRC Task Force and aims to strengthen the capacity of primatologists from ape range countries, so that they are able to advise and interact with the private sector to improve the mitigation of their impacts on apes. 

Resources

The ARRC Task Force has created and compiled numerous resources to improve knowledge of the threats faced by apes, increase awareness and application of best practices in ape conservation, and draw attention to specific large-scale development projects and related topics.
