The A.P.E.S. Portal
The IUCN SSC Ape Populations, Environments and Surveys (A.P.E.S.) Portal is a multi-partner initiative of the ape conservation community that uses interactive mapping software and analytical tools to provide information on the geographic areas where ape populations occur, threats to their survival, and their conservation needs. The Portal was founded on the A.P.E.S. database – established in 2005 as a repository for data from surveys of apes and their habitats. The Portal also includes the A.P.E.S. Wiki, a platform for site-level information on ape status and conservation.
