Hydroelectric dam

Sewa Energy Resources Ltd (SERL)

The Betmai Hydropower Project is a 27 MW run-of-river hydroelectric operation just north of Betmai Falls on the Pampana River in Sierra Leone. The project is located in Critically Endangered (CR) western chimpanzee (Pan troglodytes verus) habitat. The project is being developed by Sewa Energy Resources Ltd (SERL), an incorporated company in Sierra Leone. The ARRC Task Force was first contacted at the end of 2021 to review the project’s Primate Survey Summary and Management Plan in order to align with IFC PS6. Comments were provided to the company and the engagement is ongoing.
