OMVG Interconnection Project

The Organisation pour la Mise en Valeur du fleuve Gambie (OMVG or the Gambia River Basin Development Organization) Interconnection Project is an electricity transmission project that spans across The Gambia, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, and Senegal. The project is run by these four countries and is currently in the construction phase. The project will have potential negative impacts on Critically Endangered western chimpanzees (Pan troglodytes verus). The ESIA was completed in 2014, but the ARRC Task Force was first contacted to review a supplementary chimpanzee study completed in 2020.
